Week 9: Space + Art

Solar System
This lecture about the space and art which is pretty good topic to involve ideas from earlier topics from this course. Since space, aerospace engineering, is considered as high-end technology, and it has been developed pretty recently.

Atomic Bomb on Kazakhstan

In July 16, 1945 creation of the first atomic bomb came to fruition in the USA and was tested at the Alamogordo, New Mexico at a site called Trinity the atomic bomb at a site called Trinity. It was to end the World War II.

On August 29 1949, the Soviet Union detonated its first atomic bomb at the Semipalatinsk in Kazakhstan. This event ends America's monopoly of atomic bomb and launches the Cold War in the 1950s. The first hydrogen bomb in 1952 beating the Russia. The Cold War was even more intensified in 1954, by announcing massive retaliation by USA which is basically saying that any Soviet attack will be responded with a massive nuclear bomb.

                            






Sputnik

In October, 1957, Soviet    Union launches the first  satellite called Sputnik. It was  a metallic 23-inch sphere with four antennas. It could not do anything but sending meaningless signals back to the earth. In November, 1957, Soviet Union launches the first living being trip to the space was a dog named Laika, they were to monitor physical changes, heart beats, blood pressure and etc... Laika died in Six days because the battery of the life supporting machine ran out. In 1961, Yuri Gagarin, Russian, became the first human in space. In 1961, John Glenn became the first American in space. In July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong, American, became the first human on the Moon. As you can see, the Soviet union and America were keep on going with the Cold War as evening the times that they launch the satellite or rockets.

Star Wars

Although, it was to develop their national defence and show their power off against each other. The rockets, satellites, and astronauts inspired and excited human. The excitement is resulted as the creative artistic creation. One of the most famous examples would be the movie "Star Wars". Its back ground was space and the space was expressed as mysterious and beautiful place.





With the development of Aerospace Engineering, the art could be developed as well. By providing exciting and new world, universe, to the public, people could develop their own creativity as well.
