Graphite |
Diamond |
As we can see in these pictures the structures of two materials are totally different which is the reason why they have totally different characteristics in terms of hardness, look, price and etc... even though they both are consisted of pure carbon.

One of the most interesting facts during this weeks lecture was the enlarged image of Gecko Lizzard's feet which makes them able to climb over the walls. This made me think of Spider Man.
One of the most interesting examples with industries is the lotus leaf effect. The lotus leaf effect refers to self-cleaning properties that the lotus leaf can keep themselves clean with the their own unique structures, Ultra-hydrophobic which makes the leaf is extremely difficult to wet.

This characteristic is used in the industry, nowadays to create self cleaning fabrics and self cleaning glass. The nanotechnology is developed and able to copy the structure of lotus leaf on fabrics and glass so that the fabric and glass are not able to wet and the water will be able to clean the surface of them as the water drops.

During this weeks' lecture, the development in the Nanotechnology + Art will be able to improve the industries, world. This weeks' lecture was pretty vivid to recognize the strong connection between the art and science.
